The Character of the Converted

Dec 4, 2016

I.  Lost mankind has a corrupt nature.  (Philemon 11, 16, 18)

     A.  One characteristic of the corrupt nature is that man is cumbersome.  (v 11)

     B.  A characteristice of the corrupt nature is, often, criminal behavior.  (vv. 16-18)

          1.  Onesimus was a fugitive.

          2.  Onesimus was a thief.

II.  Saved mankind has a chaste character.  (Philemon 11, 12, 16)

"Professed conversion, without the fruit of a changed character is a profession without possession."  At best, a profession with little or no change of character makes the profession questionable.

     A.  Saved people are useful to God.  (11)

     B.  Saved people are made courageous to do the will of God.  (12)

     C.  Saved people know what it is to be contrite over sin.  (12)

     D.  Saved people become companions to all who are saved, despite their backgrounds.  (16)
